1. Institutional Identity & Scope

Global Igbo Council ("GIC", "we", "our", or "us") is a non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and classified as a public charity under Sections 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi), holding recognized State of Texas tax-exempt status.

This Privacy Policy applies to our website (https://globaligbocouncil.org), our communications platforms, and all charitable, educational, and cultural activities administered by GIC.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide to us when communicating with our Secretariat, submitting partnership inquiries, applying for volunteer or educational programs, or supporting GIC:

  • Contact Inquiries: Name, email address, phone number, affiliated organization, and message details.
  • Partnership Proposals: Institutional name, designated liaison, project scope, and collaborative focus areas.
  • Donation Transaction Records: Donor name, billing address, donation amount, date, and designation for the issuance of official IRS 501(c)(3) tax acknowledgment receipts.

3. Protection of Payment & Credit Card Data

We prioritize the highest security standards for our donors. Payment information is processed through the payment providers' secure systems and GIC does not directly collect or store card information.

Online contributions are routed directly through certified, Level 1 PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment gateways (such as Zeffy for 100% fee-free non-profit giving and PayPal for international multi-currency processing). We never have access to your full credit card number, CVV code, or banking PINs.

4. How We Use Collected Information

GIC utilizes collected information strictly to advance its exempt charitable and educational purposes:

  • Issuing automated, legally compliant tax receipts and acknowledging donor support.
  • Responding to inquiries, partnership proposals, and volunteer submissions.
  • Communicating official announcements, event registrations, and educational updates.
  • Fulfilling legal, fiduciary, and reporting obligations under federal and Texas state law.

5. Donor Privacy & Non-Sale of Information

GIC adheres to a strict Donor Privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share donor or visitor personal information with any commercial marketers or third parties for their own commercial use. Information is only shared with trusted service providers (such as email delivery systems or database hosts) who are bound by confidentiality agreements to assist GIC in its non-profit operations.

6. Data Security & Administrative Control

All digital assets, domain registries, and databases remain under GIC's organizational control. Access to donor databases and contact submissions is strictly restricted to authorized Board Directors and financial officers with multi-factor authentication (MFA) protocols in place.
